so technically what is our stage ?

i hate statistics ,cause often we don't know the authenticity of the data and how it is being misrepresented
from another article we know that the solar panels important into SA just the first 1/4 of the year equates to 25% of a stage

from this article in 2022 the first half the trend accelerated again ie 500mw in the first half of the year
so lets say the same trend continues ie we did see articles saying for the first quarter of 2023
250mw solar was imported, so seems to be the case
and we add 1250mw to the 6221 mw in this graph ie bringing us to 7471mw smack in the middle of stage 8

now we have to realise this demand isn't on the network in the day and have to add it to the load shedding we are experiencing cause surely if they did not have panels they would be demanding this from Eskom

so effectively we are well over the PR stage 6 ie effectively stage 13/14?

Theoretically yes, but I would say this partially includes the increased demand Eskom was already warning about in 2000s.
So people are just making plans. If solar was not available, lots of projects and businesses would not be around otherwise.

So if you think about the expected demand increase that eskom warned about, much of that has been significantly offset by power efficiency gains over the last 2 decades. It actually makes the current state even scarier.
