The Indian cricket juggernaut has fired a particularly cynical shot across South Africa’s bows.
Cosatu vows to organize mass actions in protest to India's actions and make the pitch "unplayable". Police has been dispatched given the rising tensions and has deployed water cannons. There is no precedent for water cannons being used on a cricket pitch but the excess water is expected to favour the fast bowlers. Furthermore Cosatu has claimed that cricket balls are inherently racist because only the one side is polished...

In other news...why is cricket stuff showing up in my new posts after I specifically blocked all sport.

This is incredibly frustrating. Our CSA and the international ICC are just plain gutless when it comes to things BCCI. Time to vote with my pocket and refrain indefinitely from anything to do with Indian or BCCI cricket

Well, all that trouble to make Tendulkar look good in front of a home crowd against a weak team and India was in serious trouble this morning (saved by their middle order). Also Tendulkar was out for 10. I should not be happy but I laughed out loud when I heard it on the radio this morning. I hope they windies pull it back and beat them. If Tendulkar really wanted to finish on a high note why not do so against the no 1 test side in the world while playing an away game.

Anyways, its all about money and I hope the BCI somehow looses lots out of this test (wishful thinking).

That's nonsense. After watching his last game, I completely understand the decision to play it in India. You would never get half the attendance they had at Mumbai. Tendulkar has given his life to the game and its only fair he played his last match in front of his home crowd, you could see what it meant to him. His whole family was there, even his mom who is disabled and hadnt watched him live ever. The BCCI were pricks in the way they handled the whole situation with the SA tour, I agree, but you cant begrudge Tendulkar for wanting to play his last and 200th at the ****ede stadium that made him the cricketer he is today.

Have to agree that was one helluva send-off.

No that's nonsense. Tendulkar’s no martyr. The guy gets paid millions. One man's benefit game should dictate an entire tour that affects the income of all our domestic players.

Besides Jacques Kallis, there isn't a current Protea who can even be compared to Tendulkar.

No one is greater than the game.

+1 Sachin's one of the most overrated cricketers in the history of mankind. He debuted at the age of 16 and that IS why his stats looks so impressive.

That's a whole course of critical reasoning you missed...

Yes he is overrated but then he does stand above nearly all peers. The most impressive for me is Kevin Pietersen and he is quite flawed. There has been many moments with these two that have been quite sublime and only AB could match, or Pointing in his prime - having not seen much of Lara.

BCCI are a bunch of wa***rs for how they handled the whole situation, I said that. The guys that run the BCCI are a bunch of old, corrupt individuals who have too much power in the game. The SA series should never have never been cut short and I blame the ICC equally for not showing enough balls. BUT just watch Tendulkar's last game to understand the magnitude of it. He would have NEVER got such a send off in South Africa. Some may thing he is overrated or whatever, but that is sport right. Everyone has their own favorites, whether it be based on skill, performance, flare, character or even affinity towards our own players ( because lets be honest ,most fans tend to watch their own players play more than any other nation and there is no better judge of SA players than the SA fans).
