The uneven bounce is exaggerated when the ball is new. Faf will want 2 new balls. He will want about 100 overs.
India also needs to make the play , they have to win to have a chance of a series win. Batting at a decent pace won't be easy.

I'd say they're going about not leaving India enough time to get the target easily at the moment (i.e. requiring a run rate of over 3.5), and then they will probably go nuts and score 40-50 runs in 6-8 overs, or attempt to anyway.

Agree regarding time required to extract/exact a win here. Indians have been doing a superb job at throttling the runs scored.

...and it kind of frustrated Vern into coughing up his pole :(

Anyone know what's the prospect of water falling from sky later today?

Vern gone and the new ball is around the corner.... we will do well to get 300 run lead.

I know there are reasons for the current pace but this session they have averaged 2 runs per over and the last 10 overs 1.2

I recon Vernon just went out due to sheer boredom. I know I got bored.

Most kind of you - or is that just you willing this?

Saquib: "Philander falls!!! Past half an hour was test of patience and endurance for both teams. Neither were aggressive just waiting for opponent to succumb and Philander falls loosing patience"

Yep. Pity Vern couldn't hold onto it a little while longer.

Yeah, just looking outside - no sign whatsoever, not before 8PM anyway.

Do you okes find Radio 2000 irritating? While driving, it's usually your only link to the game. I just measured the time now, and just before tea, it took 6.5 minutes for them to actually mention the score. If it wasn't for the tea break, I might still be waiting.

Where is Charles...

2:56pm, Tea, Day 4 Only 57 runs in that session in 27 overs. Is that a reflection of the pitch? I don't remember the ball keeping this low at any other point in this game. Interesting strategy from South Africa to bat as long as possible. And surprising from India that Shami barely got a bowl in the session. We've seen the new ball spice up innings throughout this game, but India haven't opted for it yet. It's all careful from both teams at the moment. We'll see how it goes after tea.

27 overs in 2 hours & 15 minutes. Appalling! And to think the visitors need a win to have a chance of taking the series.
