Windies U19 caught in spirit of cricket debate
http://www.cricbuzz.com/cricket-new...a-jiveshan-pillay-icc-under-19-world-cup-2018

The incident that occurred in the 17th over of the first innings when Pillay, after defending the ball, turned back to stop it from rolling onto the stumps and then proceeded to pick it up and pass on to the wicketkeeper. However, Windies U19 keeper who is also the captain, Emmanuel Stewart, let out a light appeal that brought the on-field umpires together before Pillay was adjudged out by the third umpire.

The decision taken is on the basis of ICC's law 37.4 which states - Either batsman is out Obstructing the field if, at any time while the ball is in play and without the consent of a fielder, he uses his bat or any part of his person, including a hand not holding the bat, to return the ball to any fielder.

:wtf:

I remember this happened years ago when the Windies toured here. I think it was Darryl Cullinan batting. He defended the ball down, picked it up and Brian Lara appealed. DC was given out, handling the ball...

Indeed.

Yes, the 1998 WI tour of SA, Darryl Cullinan caught the ball in the air one handed.

Ntini jnr got a bit clobbered all over the grounds in the game. Needs a little more work to get to his dads level of performance.

Sreedhar: "@MrGarreth - Well, I won't say we are on par with SA, with respect to batting! Except Kohli and Pandya to an extent, none of our batsmen have stepped themselves up to the challenges posted by SA bowlers, whereas South Africa have had some 3-4 solid performers across the 4 innings which have put them in better positions always! "

We can thank this lad ^ for the jinx :D
