How do the ICC Test ratings work?
The rating system is based on assigning points to teams for every Test match played, and then averaging it out over all Tests played by the team during the period under consideration. The final rating is thus an average score for the team during that period.

What is the time period considered?
A minimum of 36 months, and a maximum of 48 months. Every May, the results from months 37 to 48 drop off.

How are the older results weighted compared to the more recent ones?
The first two years get 50% weightage, while the last 12 to 24 months gets 100% weightage. For example, in May 2015, all matches from May 2012 to April 2014 gets 50% weightage, while matches after May 2014 gets 100% weightage.

What's the actual equation for the predictor? I've had a hard time finding it.

Seems odd that India could be whitewashed, we'd be on equal points with them, and then still need to beat Aus by 2 tests in order to get the #1. Why is it so hard for them to lose that ranking?

Because then Virat Kohli will throw his toys out the cot and godforbid we upset him...

Anyway, I think all of this will be irrelevant with the new up and coming changes, which would make it a league-style tournament.

In this last round, we lost against England home and away, Australia at home, and couldn't beat Bangladesh away or India.

India haven't lost a series since 2014, and also don't lose many test matches.http://stats.espncricinfo.com/india/engine/records/team/series_results.html?class=1;id=6;type=team

I agree with Markham, but JP seems to be more consistent than Miller of late.

Miller has been the eagles best bat this season in all competitions been way more consistent then previous seasons.

Weather is going to make the first session very spicy.

Win the toss and bowl first...
