Gees, game might be called off... fck me...
All it needs is Prima Donna to break a finger and the Indians would be leaving SA early.

Yep. Pitch is getting super dodgy. Apparently only two tests have been called off due to dangerous pitch conditions. Both in West Indies.
Kohli not doing well?
Tahir: "When and who can declare the pitch dangerous and call off the match? Will they require the captains' consent to do?" --- Nope, just like with the light, it's up to the umpires. It is their responsibility to keep the players safe.
Ankit Khare: "ICC rated nagpur pitch very POOR at that time and once a match was called off in delhi. Now what about this dangerous pitch?? What would be the action from ICC?" --- If it gets called off, both CSA and the venue will face serious penalties.
Rabada to Vijay, OUT, bowled him! The defence has been so good from Vijay, but Rabada has found a way through it. Falls before lunch. Superb bowling. Fires a yorker, in at middle stump. Vijay looks to get the bat down but he's late on it
Thank the heavens above that it wasn't the pitch's fault![]()
"Chris Scott was the groundsman here for several decades, before handing duties over to Bethuel Buthelezi for the 2015/16 season. Scott has stayed on as a consultant to help Buthelezi, but kept a low profile - I didn't see him on the opening two days of the match. But he came storming out onto the field with Buthelezi in tow as the players left, and had a reasonably animated conversation with the umpires. It's all happening."
Should have shown that kind of gumption while preparing the pitch, methinks.
He didn't prepare the pitch, though. Buthelezi is the groundsman. He's only a "consultant" now.
...A big update from Tristan, "I've just heard from the SA media liaison that there has been no suggestion from the umpires that the match could be abandoned. While they discussed their concern about the divets and trouble areas on the pitch, there was no ultimatum as has been suggested in some parts."
And? What iron has he got in this dumpster fire that he came charging out there? Whatever it is that made him come running out, should have made him help prepare a better pitch.
Here are the laws pertaining to the pitch:
6.4.1 If the on-field umpires decide that it is dangerous or unreasonable for play to continue on the match pitch, they shall stop play and immediately advise the ICC Match Referee.
6.4.2 The on-field umpires and the ICC Match Referee shall then consult with both captains.
6.4.3 If the captains agree to continue, play shall resume.
6.4.4 If the decision is not to resume play, the on-field umpires together with the ICC Match Referee shall consider whether the existing pitch can be repaired and the match resumed from the point it was stopped. In considering whether to authorise such repairs, the ICC Match Referee must consider whether this would place either side at an unfair advantage, given the play that had already taken place on the dangerous pitch.
6.4.5 If the decision is that the existing pitch cannot be repaired, then the match is to be abandoned as a draw.
That was Buthelezi's job, who I assume still had the final say before this. In Chris Scott's lifetime as head curator of Wanderers, he never made a bad pitch for any format. I assume he's there to try and save as much face for Buthelezi as he can.
