Industry warns against another alcohol ban and more restrictions in South Africa

The South African wine industry (Vinpro) has warned against further alcohol restrictions, which it says have given rise to a major illicit market, while causing significant damage to legitimate businesses.

I think they are forgetting a few things.

Many people started back yard brewing and distilling (neither are "illicit).

And many alcoholics dried up in the dry period and just never drank again.

Also, many suffered paycuts and job losses, most would rather buy a meal than wine.
