There was two races actually. Both races were wet/dry with lots of lead changes and both race winners won by clever strategy. Lots of crashes, full course yellows, pits stops etc.

Despite imo. fairly boring tracks in Indy it seems to always offer so much more on screen entertainment.

I blame the FIA for that, and their governance.

Impossible to predict race winners in Indy as you can in F1, so yes, agreed

The huge amount or spoilers affixed to this year's cars is laughable.

The F1 cars from 2008 also had bits and pieces sticking out from everywhere.

2009 sorted out most of the extra bits but they are starting to slowly creep back again.

2009 sorted out most of the extra bits but they are starting to slowly creep back again.
The problem is that these bits constantly fly off at the slightest touch, resulting in Safety Cars, after which the restart results in more bits flying off, necessitating another Safety Car, etc, etc.
