It would be poetic justice if this spate of attacks turned out to be Hacktivists protesting the systematic looting and corruption within the government these past years and their failure to tackle this.

Probably just your everyday cybercriminals though, otherwise someone would have claimed responsibility by now.

It's quite shabby actually.

Businesses have been forced to spend (cumulatively I'm sure) billions of Rands and countless hours preparing for POPIA and we still haven't been able to register information officers due to a technical error that has existed since the deadline in July, and now they themselves have had a breach.

How are we supposed to take legislation like this seriously when government runs it like a clown show? As far as I'm concerned, POPIA is now null and void. Save the effort, you needn't bother with any compliance because it is crystal clear that hell will freeze over before these clowns actually implement or enforce any of it.

Zero gain. Billions spent. It is the ANC way.
