Hey guys, so I'm going to be working from home for at least the next year and need to look at getting a printer now.

I've narrowed my options to these 2 because they come with an ADF and automatic duplex printing.

Epson - https://www.takealot.com/epson-ecotank-l6160-its-3-in-1-wi-fi-printer/PLID48757715

Canon - https://www.takealot.com/ij-mfp-pixma-g7040-eum-emb-eb2/PLID69087269

The problem is that it's almost impossible to find any decent reviews that aren't from India.

With the basic work needs out of the way (ADF and auto duplex) I need something that can print great quality photos. Also needs to be reliable, I don't want any print head issues.

Any advice? Would like to order this week...

Easy.
What is the difference in warranty?

I think you'll find the canon build quality is superior but nothing trumps an extended warranty.

I can attest to the Epson Ink Tank printers and their quality.
Uncle bought one on my suggestion and we have printed out some truly impressive photos.

I bought the L6160. So far I have no complaints with it. I'm not a fan of the ink bottles thingie but they've made it really effortless to use lately compared to ones I've had in the past.

Thanks for all the input guys.

I was a click away from getting the Epson and then realised that it didn't have an ADF. So I had to settle on the Canon.

It's still a great printer and the quality is awesome. So for anyone else who's considering Epson vs Canon, you can't go wrong either way...

Also I didn't want to post this until I stocked up plenty for myself

So Takealot has a special on the Canon photo paper variety pack. It's R10 for the pack, which comes with 5 sheets of each type and size, so 20 sheets in total.

It'll work out cheaper to get 50 sheets of 4x6 via the pack, than to get it on its own. And you'd also get 50 sheets of each of the other sizes and types thrown in. Insane value...

Hi Mike, Are you still happy with the Canon G7040?
Is the scanning software still a pain with the Canon My Image Garden software?
Do you recommend it

Still very happy with it. The photos especially on photo paper are amazing, you can't tell the difference between one that's been printed in a shop.

Not sure about that app, but I'm using the Canon PRINT app and there's no issues with it...

Thanks for the feedback guys. I will go for the Canon as I have a Canon g3020 ink tank at home that has served me well for over 3 years.
