That sucks. I must say I quite like this phone. Even the packaging is that of a more expensive phone.

I think you'll enjoy it quite a bit.

Only gripe I still had was the bloatware of which there was a lot. A quick root took care of it through. Unrooted again so no more nonsense.

Oh, there's one odd thing, the battery can drain super fast to a certain percentage and then just remain on that percentage for hours! I'm curious whether you guys have/will have the same bug.

Received the phone around ten on Monday and have been using it since Tuesday without hassles. I haven't rooted it but just tidied up the bloatware, what's left doesn't get in the way and some seems quite useful - eg: Clean Master & 1 Tap Boost.

Comparing to my Gobii ivP:

Pros: 2GB memory, no more "insufficient space" messages when updating apps. The 5" screen suits my fat fingers better and has a slight edge in display quality. I reckon the camera is better as well although both phones are only entry level in this regard.

Cons: despite the 2500mAh battery I suspect the Gobii (which will go for 30hrs before hitting 50%) has the edge. The InnJoo takes longer to charge (around 3hrs from 50% to full) and I'm charging every night just to be on the safe side. I'll run it flat this weekend to see how many hours I actually get.

Conclusion: Great value for money at the R1199 I paid however I see it's back to R1499 on Takealot.

I actually bought one as well when it was R1199, got the phone, charged overnight and started playing with the device next morning, adding contacts removing apps etc.. lost 40% of battery life within a 60 minute period = factory wiped the phone and sent back, also the screen/phone size just to big, like the 3,5inch screen sizes more... Also came with too much bloatware etc (but I guess that is standard with all the android devices).

My 2c..

Is there anything like that even still on the market? Even your junk phones usually have somewhere between 4-5" screens.
And if you have a screen that has a lower resolution than 720P some UI elements will be broken in some apps.

I'm going to buy this phone on monday, @Bond - @MickZA - @SCHUMI-4-EVA any final thoughts on the phone after 2 weeks or so of usage?
This phone will replace my aging and slow Huawei Ascend G510.

Or perhapes wait abit more for the Xiaomi Redmi 2 2gb model to arrive.

Battery life has dipped a bit. Well, I'm a heavy user.

And it ust works fine really.

I'm also a G4 user and when working with the devic I don't miss it (res and camera).

Very happy with the phone, compared with my old Gobii ivP:

... speaker is a little "tinny" but acceptable, earbuds are OK and comfortable
... camera is surprisingly good
... battery life is slightly poorer and charge time longer

I don't know the G4 but I'm pretty sure you'll be happy with your purchase.

just got mine delivered!

amazing, I only ordered it yesterday!, I thought with me being in JHB it would take longer as the warehouse in CPT and they said delivery expected next week.

now the hard part for me, I probably need to do a sim swap for my SIM to fit inside it.....
and idea what cutting guide I must do? or what I must ask for at MTN?

as Im on MTN prepaid, cant I just go and get another sim card and move details to another?
did it once before, when my old blue MTN sim stopped working and getting picked up.....

please tell me I dont have to go RICA and such now?

you simply tell them you need to go from a Mini to a Micro-sim and let them do the rest
it's a simple computer switch, they give you a new sim and then your old one stops working and the new one activates within 24hours

Check your current SIM to see if it has the micro pop out like mine did.

nope the old style ones without the cutouts, I know what you mean though.....

how much does a sim swap cost? or should I just get another starter pack and work from that?

For the last time another starter pack means new details, new number, RICA, the whole shebang.
On Vodacom a swap costs R120, not sure about MTN.
