Install date - How likely they will come ?

Well asfter a week and a half of nothing much happening after my ADSL order, Im now told the computer shows I have a installation date of the 28th

How likely is it they will come on that day ?

We got ours installed on the fifth date they gave us.
So in our experience, about 20%.
We did phone them everyday after the first missed installation, they sheduled 4 subsequent installation dates over the course of the following month. Maybe they didnt like us phoning them everyday. Hehehe.

Phone them again. Chances are they'll tell you something different.

Edit: Does anyone get the idea we're not overly fond of Telkom on this forum?

Well, only order the ISP portion when they are actually IN your house. That's what I did Didn't pitch on 1st date, they phoned the next day to install the day after that. Pitched this time

My webdesigner ordered his ADSL on Sept 6th 2006
I would estimate at least 48 hours of time has been spent holding on and waiting to speak to them and find out what the hell is going on.

NOBODY KNOWS WTF IS GOING ON ----- AFTER 3 MONTHS --- PLEASE GOD HELP US!!!!!!

My designer does not have a phone line, he only has a cellphone. He cannot afford to call them everyday. I have taken it upon myself to try sort this out for him. I am currently holding on to speak to a guy who promised me someone would go out there today. Nothing has happened. I now want to speak to this lieing piece of sh17 and find out what exactly they are playing at.

It has been close to 3 months of waiting. The lies continue and the rot goes so deep that I seriously consider leaving this country just because of Telkom. If your business is dependent on the internet this is by far the WORST place to try do business. One of the telskum officials claims 14 day delivery is the norm. Is this supposed to be the biggest joke or biggest lie?

What I want to know is is the government completely ignorant of this fact, or do they simply not care?

My feeling is they'd be content to let SA slip until it's just a completely industrial economy, mining and exporting minerals.

Mine was installed after the third date. Choose an self install, and you'll save the R437 or so. You just have to buy the filters from the Telkom CBS @ around R40 per filter.

Mine was installed on the 3'd install date.

Every time I had to phone them to ask why they didn't come. The last time, they were luckily just 30 minutes late.

I opted for 'Self Install' and the line was up and running within a week of ordering. This was 2 weeks ago. I stay in the Little Falls area JHB.
