I think there are smarter ways than what i am about to suggest but here's what i did. I had installed XP-Pro but neeeded dual boot in win2k.

Installing win2k seemed to have modified the boot loader such that only win2k and win98 was available on the boot menu after 2k installation was done.

To bring winxp back on the boot menu, I logged on to 2k then went to my winxp source folder and started the winxp install process.

At the very next reboot the my XP session was available on the boot menu along with with the new XP-installation session which is selected by default.

Very quickly i selected my previous XP session, preventing the new XP-installation session to boot up.

After logging on to my XP session i went to edit the boo.ini to remove the default option that selects the XP install session.

I hope all this makes sense to you.
