Is there any way to review any Vehicle insurance claims history linked to your name?

You can request a claims history letter from each insurer that you have been insured with.

The thing is, I've never had my own insurance but did have a claim a while back on my folks one.

Can insurance companies pick this up when validating claims?

Yes they can!

Transunion have a database that has this information. Insurers use it to verify information provided by a policy-holder at policy underwriting and claims stage. https://www.transunion.co.za/product/insurance-claims-policy-data.

Not sure if an individual can get their records off the database.
