If a person does call-outs with their private vehicle but do not specify this, any claim deemed to be for work purposes will be disallowed.

All car insurers specifically ask if a vehicle is used for business purposes.
It depends what kind of call outs we are talking about, if your call out requires you to drive to work it is just as regular as driving to work every day.

Why can't you supply them with a definition of your job title?

They want details on admin/computers and I can't see why.

I can, “admin/computers” isn’t a job title, it’s a general description of your duties. Most insurance companies want a job title to gauge risk.

Because whilst assembling PCs he deals with very dangerous levels of static electricity and if the insurance company knows this they'll load his premium.

Just checked my policy with OUTsurance and the job titles are generic. They signed me up this way and nobody has requested an update. Should I be worried?
I’m actually quite paranoid about a claims dispute but have never had any major claims.

If they don’t ask you shouldn’t have a problem, the problem can arise if they do ask and you lie or refuse to tell them.

distance traveling to/From work, risk is different,
also do you do call-outs, again more "risk" to them is you involved in an accident carrying tools/stock ect.

quite surprised they asking you this, mine never has, but who knows with Naked,
they just say no to all claims and thats the end of that.

Are you with Naked insurance? I was going to move to them this month but that review does not look positive.

Agree, but what difference does it make whether I'm sweeping floors or watching pron at work? Only thing that could affect premiums is travelling for work but how would that matter anyway.

Sweeping floors is more high risk

Tries to be as vague as possible about his job to the insurance company, publishes job title and employer name to LinkedIn.
Nope, not on LinkedIn - happy working where I am.

That's the thing see, I could make one up.

Marketing Co-ordinator probably covers it but at the end of the day I'm really just a clerk.

EDIT: A rose by any other name and all that ......

Happy to move to another insurer, I'm low risk touch wood.

In my opinion, strictly humble, working at home should not increase your premium whatsoever. Being at home should reduce the number of household break robberies. We travel less. The Motor exposure reduces and with it premium you pay.

If I was asked what if I work at home, I would press them for reasons why they need to know and what it means to my cover, premiums and excesses. Their reply needs to be comprehensive and make sense before I answer.

Good point. If they're thinking of reducing my premiums full disclosure wouldn't be an issue. Truth to tell though, I doubt that's their aim.

Who is your insurer, if I may ask?

It never ceases to disappoint how short-term insurance gets clubbed with skepticism ... almost always justifiably so. Finding an insurer who is honest and treats the customer fairly should not be a massive hurdle. I hope that whatever the outcome is, that you are not prejudiced by it.

You have PM. I don't want to name the insurance company until their motivation for asking is clear.
