Hi guys

I'm in a bit of a sticky situation.I have purchased a 2015 polo vivo conceptline 1.4 gp and I'm insured by miway insurance. I'm paying R1322 pm and I have heard nothing but good reviews for miway.I have been on the market for a better insurance deal and I came across prime meridian who said they could cover me for R880 pm. I thought this was a good deal but I had to do a background check before I jump in so I went to hellopeter and I was shocked at the reviews .80% were complaints. I would like to know if moving from miway toPrime Meridian is a good idea.mind you I'm only 24 and considered a high risk for most insurance companies

Contact an insurance broker.

Don't believe the "cut out the middleman" marketing BS. A good insurance broker will always get you the best deal, and handle your claim when the shyte hits the fan.

I'm with Standard Bank Insurance Brokers - they've insured me under Hollard. Had to claim for a bumper bashing last year, and they handled everything on my behalf.

Your car is financed right?

Then you probably can't use Prime Meridian, they are not comprehensive insurers and that's what your financing institution will want according to the contract you signed.

Try a broker like mentioned.

Yup a broker, those "direct" insurance companies are expensive and you end up doing all the work

And many have had bad service.

Also, do you just drop them an e-mail and all gets sorted?

i understand many have, and if i look at people who i know, who have had a bad time, its when they try to bullshyte the insurance, or try to hide something

i have had a few claims recently, all without a hitch

Answer the question man, do you just drop them an e-mail and they sort stuff out (new vehicle premium quote or whatever) or did/do you have to phone them?

i phone, not really bothered which way around it goes

at the same time, i cant justify spending R600 a month more, with a higher excess , just to save 5 minutes on a email, and a R10 phone call

I'm with Miway and never had a problem with any claims. The best thing about them is that you can manage your entire policy (and claims) completely online through their website. If you want to change any part of your policy, like adding something or removing something, or generating a quote, or changing your contact details, you can do it entirely online without speaking to anyone. I HATE having to speak to a call centre agent, with a passion, so any insurance company that allows me to manage my policies online immediately get my attention.

Whatever you do , don't go to Nedbank insurance brokers.
They are biggest bunch of rip offs with the worst customer service I ever experienced.

Just make sure any change in your risk profile, the risk itself or any material facts are your responsibility and if you don't change it'll be on your shoulders.

^this.

When the kaka hits the fan then those cheapie premium companies will try hard to repudiate a claim on various technicalities.
