I have a PV / Battery / Inverter setup that has just been comissioned.
What have other forumites done for insurance - are you just adding it to your regular home insurance or are you adding it to household contents / specified insurance? I assume its in the former but thought I'd ask. Installed value around R145k

Make special mention of the items.
ie
Buildings.............. Which includes.............

Some insurers want to add the panels to All Risks others specify them on their own rating etc.

What kind of insurance? Home insurance, or short-term (fire, theft etc.)?

Should be covered under home (building - not content) insurance. Ensure you increase your cover if you are "under" insured otherwise all good.

When I called outsurance they said they do not have to add anything as long as the value of total cover was sufficient

Good to hear. Our place is insured for almost double what we paid - based on cost to rebuild so I'm guessing we're good but I'll double check.

Im in exactly the same position, double the value. So I didn't do anything more.
Yes, your place looks solid and rather neat. The major value in mine is the view - although it's generally solid, it's not a pretty house at all but I feel like I have the maintenance under control which is a big plus. One or two more practical things to do will make me happy then I can figure out a way to make a box look prettier
