I've written a few sites in Drupal and, looking for an integrated blog and forum solution, this has been my first port of call. I haven't used the forum module before and am not filled with boundless optimism with it throwing an error as soon as enabled. It is a very simple forum compared to VBulletin, SMF, etc, but it would serve my initial needs and is integrated with the rest of the CMS, so there is a common log in and posts and topics would be returned via the search module. Reading the Drupal site, there are a fair few complaints about it and calls for it to be removed from the core.

What has been your experience integrating a forum into a site, or have you just gone the mybroadband route and used separate software and linked news/blog entries to a forum thread?

I'm only learning Drupal now myself - used Joomla before. I'd love to know what you find out...

Advanced forum is what I've tried - its prolly the best for Drupal, a pain to get to know but that's Drupal for you. I assume you want to use Drupal for your blog and forum? I have only used v6. For blog, just use the relevant drupal page / etc. module.

If it's just Blog + Forum, I'm not sure how vBulletin rates - excellent for forum, but blog? Not so sure...
Another one I am looking at is Liferay... free version available.
www.liferay.com

I've never bothered to integrate, I think that's more headache than anything else...

I've used Joomla for a 2 or 3 sites, but wouldn't use it again. I would like to use Plone, but hosting is trickier.

I'll post a link once I've got the Drupal forum in order and styled.
