The longest continuous loadshedding? If you had asked us what that would be a few years ago it would have been 2 or 4 hours in a day, ample time to recharge batteries.

Now we are out 12 hours a day, with a real possibility of 14 hours a day. So tell me Mr Fortune Teller... what is the longest possible continuous loadshedding we can expect in a year or two time?
He doesn't think much :/

Imagine lambasting a company because they haven't got a 24hr back up 'incase'

I wonder if the have reservoirs at each branch 'incase' the water runs dry?
Or bunkers 'incase' they nuclear war ?

Those with 200l water reservoirs/JoJo should go 1,000 'incase' ... hell, why stop there ? Overspec !

Guys... Take a moment to appreciate that @TheChamp has agreed that we should all continuously plan for the ANC to destroy the country further.

I for one am glad he's seeing the light and acknowledging that under the ANC things will only continue to get worse.

Anything, even 24hrs is fine.

It's called overspeccing, again they are not cooking or heating anything in the shop, they can even have a 24hr backup if they want to.

How would installing Solar or Generators at a Shopping mall work? Would the owners of the mall be responsible for installing it and selling electricity to each business as needed. Or does each business just put up panels or generators wherever they want.

Not a smart ass question, but wondering how it'll work. I see some malls have crap loads of panels on the roof and others not a single one.

I think if the mall gets a single electric bill that could be split into the different tenants then it'll be easier to manage.
The mall pays for the backup, and the tenants get billed for whatever they use if they choose to use that option.

Generally that's what happens, the owners install backup and supply their tenants, they cannot charge for electricity as that would put them at odds with the law so they would find a way to include that in the price and the tenant will pay for the convenience.

In Mr Price case they don't even need solar, a good battery and an inverter will suffice.

All they need power for is the LED lights that they are supposed to have, and the IT/computer equipment. Surely even a matric graduate can procure a solution that handles this for up to 8 hours per day... it doesn't even cost much to have a solution that only caters for low watts like this.

TheChamp is an ANC lickspittle. See it in that context. Not much thinking goes on between the ears if you are an ANC voter.

What size do they need? And what is the cost?
