Replied to @TheGoosen in PM with supplier details.

Just for all to know, LTE in Franschhoek village is not an option at all for any business as a primary connection.
Considering you are mentioning businesses, FTTB should be available in there area...

Tell me there is a shift in fortunes?

Any fiber on its way to Franschhoek? Uptake would be insane.

It's unfortunately not as simple as one would think.

We recently ran a backbone in the Bottelary hills. It's connected to our DC in Teraco via a Metroclear layer 2 fibre connection, at tremendous expense. We've done this not only as a FTTF (Fibre To The Farm) proof of concept, but also to provide the towers we have there with stable backhaul back to Teraco.

Here's the fibre coverage map that project.

This isn't like in town where you can put down a little box on the pavement and it's left alone. Out there you have to build fortresses like the one below just to house junction boxes.

So far, three clients have signed up. One is a FTTB user taking 30Mb. The other two are FTTH users taking 5Mb connections, milking those connections for every bit of data they can.

During the canvassing stage everyone we spoke to was interested. We had 30 sets of service application forms in hand before the first pick went into the ground, but as soon as it's time to put their money where their mouths are, suddenly individuals and businesses are "in contract" to a WISP or an ADSL, or can't afford the install amount.

We would only consider doing something like this again if there was at least 50% buy in from the community and everyone paid up front for installation.

Why don't you market it more ?
What about pricing is it set out to entice them to move over to Fibre?

Update:
Spoke to tech outside Standard Bank today who was busy connecting up fibre lines.
Std Bank will be up and running in the next week or so on fibre. Apparently the whole of main road is FTTB enabled and on Openserve network according to them.
Nothing on Openserve website...

I highly doubt standard band uses residential fibre products from openserve. It will be something with an sla of five nines.

If you query anything they just cancel your service

There has to be more to this than what you say.

I had a look at their trading conditions on their site

Misuse of internet connections
In common with other internet service providers, where Cape Connect Internet becomes aware that the service is being misused, including but not limited to the malicious degradation of other networks or network devices and/or transmission of content contrary to applicable law ("Service Misuse"), Cape Connect reserves the right to suspend the service without liability.

Companies don't just cancel service unless you have been very naughty.

What did you do for them to cancel your service?

SADV pulled the plug on fibre roll out in town.
Guess we have to wait for Openserve then as that will be our only option
