See specifically their classification of Broadband. Hmm I signed up for a Broadband mywireless service yet I dont get what they claim to be the bare minimum. This is from their mouths and published on the Internet for the world to see so we should get what we pay for and that is a MINIMUM of 128k!

This should be forwarded to ASA as additional evidence that might assist them in judging the complaint against Sentech

South Africa needs World Class Broadband at World Competitive Prices.

I was also thinking about ASA. Just wanna see what other people's opinions are. I must admit I have been unable to follow up with ASA as my weeks been crazy but I set aside some time tomorrow morning.

This is indeed interesting reading and personally I think it is good grounds for an ASA complaint.

"Broadband refers to a connection speed from 128Kbps and higher from the end user to the network provider."

from the end user to the network provider - they don't say anything about what happens from there... ugh. these guys are SO sly! :(

Which in my book means that a speedtest between myself and Sentech MUST CONSTANTLY deliver 128Kbps. From there on the internet takes over (read "able to pass the buck") and no one will guarantee that part

The thing is ... even downloading email happens at 1KBps. If according to their definition it is the connectin between the users equipment and their network - downloading email must happen at 100% of your capacity, no matter how congested their internet is.

Have just left a msg with

MAUREEN MPHATSOE: EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER
TELEPHONE NUMBER: (011) 691 7050
FAX NUMBER: (011) 691 7120

Apparently she is the person to speak to for queries relating to the MyWi service. She will apparently be calling me back after 3.

*sigh*

Hope this works

This from the above link says to me FAST CONNECTION, FAST SPEED

"MyWireless is an IP based multi-media (audio, video, text and data) service provided on the 2.5 GHz to 2.7 GHz RF spectrum, that provides a fast Internet connection from the high powered base station directly to the end user’s wireless modem.

The technology is based on the globally recognized 3G Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) standard."

It was my connection. Up for 1 minute, down for 3 hours.

Methinks I shall call Maureen Fatso too.
