Was checking new numbers, hopefully good news coming
New case down, hospitalised down, deaths down...
Don't wanna be too hopeful, but hell if continues this will drastically change their predictions that its happening already... lets see what tomorrow brings

Look at the graph here:

My previous comment was that models predict that deaths should start to level off 14-18 days after lockdown, and it looks like New York is reaching that stage today (started 22 March).

I think the focus will start to move to other parts of the country over the next few weeks. Michigan has done +-40k tests and has nearly 16k infected, clearly there isn't enough tests being done yet.

Polio doesn't affect the lungs, it effects the central nervous system. An iron lung was a type of ventilator that helped you breathe when your muscles were too weak.
FDR had polio but he didn't require an iron lung he was just partially paralyzed.
There is no comparison between the two viruses.
Other than that it kills.

My idiot neighbours allow their kids to have play dates with the other neighbour's kids. I blocked them all on WhatsApp. Cannot be associated with people of such low intelligence and even less consideration.
You should have first given them a piece of your mind. are they crazy.. It's lockdown, not Social-In-the-Hood.

People should stay the hell at home. Kids and everyone. Our numbers in SouthAfrica is going up as it is now... even during lockdown.

Because it is not locked down enough in my thinking.

Government is too laxy, they allowing street vendors. allowing too much movement. Allowing taxi's to carry 70% and longer hours of movement on the roads.

This gives more "spreading" for this virus.

I don't think in terms of numbers, whether increasing or decreasing are a result of the current lockdown.

McLaren boss Zak Brown said Sunday that the coronavirus pandemic has plunged Formula One into "a very fragile state", warning that as many as four teams could even be driven out of business.
The 2020 world championship has been unable to start with eight races of a scheduled 22 already either scrapped or postponed.
"This is potentially devastating to teams, and if (it is devastating) to enough teams then it's very threatening to F1 as a whole," Brown told the BBC on the eve of a meeting planned to discuss cost-cutting in the sport.

Brown insisted that all the teams have agreed to lower the 2021 budget cap to $150m (138.7 million euros) down from $175 million.

However, he said the ceiling needs to be reduced further to counter the financial fall-out from the virus-hit season.

Singapore to Close Schools, Most Workplaces With Rising Virus Cases
Singapore will shutter schools and most workplaces as the city-state unveiled a raft of stricter measures to slow the spread of coronavirus, shifting away from an approach crafted to limit interruptions to daily life and commerce.

Most workplaces, except for essential services and key economic sectors, will close starting on Tuesday, while the city-state will move to full home-based learning in its schools from Wednesday, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said in an address to the nation Friday afternoon. The government will also unveil additional stimulus measures to boost the economy early next week.

Formula 1, like Premier League football paid their stars unrealistic, astronomical amounts.
There's bound to be attrition when your blue-chip company goes from earning a zillion UK Pounds or Euros a day to earning nothing.
I can't say I'm very sorry - the amounts the top tier teams worked with meant that the lower teams /clubs had no chance of any healthy competition.
Now the companies that earned and spent money like water are in trouble versus companies that had a strict budget and stuck to it.
Tough. Once the dust has settled, sport will continue.

The EPL teams stand to lose £760mil+ in TV money if they don't complete the season. Not exactly pocket change, especially if you're a smaller club.

Austria going to lift some restrictions on the 14th (they are one of the countries with the most stringent regulations but as you can see on the worldometer site, they are a standout performer in Europe).

Austrian restrictions here: https://www.austria.info/en/service-and-facts/coronavirus-information

Countries are considered high-risk areas if an active travel warning concerning the Coronavirus is in place. The Austrian authorities have issued the highest travel warning (stage 6) for the following countries: France, Iran, Italy, South Korea, the Netherlands, Peru, Russia, San Marino, Switzerland, Spain, Ukraine, the Vatican, The United Kingdom, India, Pakistan, Senegal and South Africa.

How is SA on the list but not the US? :cautious:

She does think that mixed signals and, as she sees it, an inability to trust the media contributed to confusion about the virus.

"I was frustrated with the way that the media was very agenda driven - and it's on both sides. I feel like the coronavirus issue turned into something that was 'party against party' instead of one nation under God," she says.
Evident outcomes of politicizing Covid.
