i’m on the approach path to Cape Town Internatiinal airport, and since day 1 of lockdown the lack of overhead plane noise was really noticable - one can hear the birds singing now.

This week there have been one or two strange flights: some at 02:00 or 03:00 at night, an Ethiopian Airlines flight that landed and then left 3h later after refuelling, Virgin Atlantic, a KLM flight from Cape Town to Rèunion that I do not think is on their regular schedule......

India is potentially the focus of the next epidemic:
India has decided to extend a strict nationwide lockdown imposed last month to stop the spread of the coronavirus, a top official says.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a video conference with state ministers, and many of them urged the government to prolong the measure.

Delhi's chief minister said Mr Modi had agreed to extend the lockdown, due to end on Tuesday, without giving details.

There are concerns about how the curbs are affecting the poor and the economy.

The spread of the virus has been varied in India with some states seeing bigger jumps in cases despite the shutdown. Millions of migrant workers have been left jobless with the poorest suffering most.

India has confirmed 7,600 infections and 249 deaths, according to a tally by US-based Johns Hopkins University, which is tracking the disease globally. The true figures, however, are thought to be far higher.

I'm in Parow, on the same street as Pick n Pay Family Store and the Parow Market. We usually have airplanes right overhead. Voortrekker road is constantly busy 24/7. I can hear the trains on the Northern line when the wind blows the right direction.

Now? I have the window open with a cool breeze wafting in and I hear birds singing. There is an almost inaudible rumble from Voortrekker road, but that's it.
No planes, trains and only the occasional vehicle (usually our police/private security gaolers).

Edit. Oh, the night flights are usually cargo. Star air and bidvest air.
Edit #2. I miss the two British Airways 747's in the morning (and that 777). I also miss the three Emirates 777's.
However, the night flights are still there, so I sleep well.

I’ve been listening to the whine that morning British Airways Airbus “gearing down for approach” for more than 5 years and saying that it doesn’t sound well at all - yet the following morning it is there again.

interesting incident happened in 2013 when a part fell off a Condor Airways (Thomas Cook) Boeing 767-300 into a garden in Welgelegen, Parow:

Well.. If it is working... Hydroxychloroquine and Azithromycin on SARS-CoV-2 shows synergistic effect

I suggest USA start using it... cause their death rate has spiked quite a bit.

Looks like good news for NY, last few days new hospitalisations have been tanking... from around 2k beginning of week, couple of hundred last couple of days and to now only 85 today, looks like their 'peak' is well and truly here, now deaths need to catch up and start dropping too in next week+

"Only 14% of people in England and Wales are from ethnic minority backgrounds, according to the 2011 census.

However, the Intensive Care National Audit and Research Centre found that 34% of more than 3,000 critically ill coronavirus patients identified as black, Asian or minority ethnic."

"Labour said the disproportionate number of doctors from ethnic minority backgrounds who had died from coronavirus was "deeply disturbing".
