An Oregon county has decided to make people of color exempt from its mandatory mask policy, citing the potential for racial profiling. The decision comes as multiple counties in Oregon have ramped up face-covering requirements to slow the spread of coronavirus.

Lincoln County's general directive requires everyone to wear a face-covering in any indoor public setting, or any outdoor setting where six feet of social distancing can't be maintained. But the county wrote on its website that "People of color who have heightened concerns about racial profiling and harassment due to wearing face coverings in public" are exempt from the rule.

A day later.....

A mask mandate exemption for people of color meant to address racial profiling concerns has been removed after racist backlash, Oregon county officials said in a statement. "The expressions of racism regarding the exception has created a ripple of fear throughout our communities of color. The very policy meant to protect them, is now making them a target for further discrimination and harassment," Lincoln County leaders said Wednesday. The county requires most residents to wear face coverings in public settings, indoors or outdoors. The locale, which is overwhelmingly White, had been one of the first places in the United States to exempt non-White residents if they fear harassment.

But underestimating the real number of infections is a good thing.

I've never understood why anyone would want to go to the beach when it is that crowded. How is it fun to be in a packed crowd where you can't even play games or do anything? It's like those ridiculous nightclubs that pack so many people in there is barely space to stand, never mind dance.

White people, they're such barbarians.

As the U.S. begins to open back up, coronavirus clusters — where multiple people contract COVID-19 at the same event or location — are popping up all over the country. And despite drawing massive crowds, protests against police violence and racial injustice in Washington state weren't among those clusters.

Face-to-face close-contact indoors, is much higher risk than mass dispersed outdoor events. SA article covering the relative risks:

Data compiled by Oxford University revealed that six per cent of patients hospitalised with the virus died during the peak of the pandemic.
By June this dropped to just 1.5 per cent and experts have said that doctors may be getting better at prescribing treatment to patients.

LOL terrible headline.

You're just as likely to die from Covid as you were before. The percentage of patients dying in hospital has absolutely no bearing on your likelihood of dying.

Once everyone starts prescribing dexamethasone that might change.

Just a good reminder of who the biggest parasite around actually is. Nature is trying to clean up but we are not playing game.
Dunno pooping in you burger box seems like a good composting technique.
