Data compiled by Oxford University revealed that six per cent of patients hospitalised with the virus died during the peak of the pandemic.
By June this dropped to just 1.5 per cent and experts have said that doctors may be getting better at prescribing treatment to patients.

Haven't clicked the link but surely you get better care at a hospital when it isn't hectic (ie. Non-peak)?

Its a combination of three factors: Bettter treatment protocols, less crowded facilities, and many of the most vulnerable have already died or are better protected. See:

LOL terrible headline.

You're just as likely to die from Covid as you were before. The percentage of patients dying in hospital has absolutely no bearing on your likelihood of dying.

Once everyone starts prescribing dexamethasone that might change.
Terrible article in general. Vague reference to doctors getting better at treatment. Says nothing about what those changes in treatment are.
So it leaves the reader to draw his own conclusions.
Therefore mine is simple. More use of oxygen and less use of ventilators.

Covid-19 was in Spanish sewage as early as MARCH 2019, study claims

Traces of the novel coronavirus have been discovered in Barcelona sewage water months before the first case of the dreaded disease was reported in China, a new study by a group of Spanish researchers claims.
Scientists with the Enteric Virus Group at the University of Barcelona detected the presence of the virus in frozen samples of the city’s wastewater collected as early as March 12, 2019. The group, led by Rosa Maria Pintó and Albert Bosch, was exploring the potential of wastewater analysis in early warning systems, and the prevention of future Covid-19 outbreaks, when it made the surprise discovery.
...
Initially, the team had found the virus in samples dated January 15, 2020 – some 41 days before the first confirmed case of Covid-19 in Spain. They decided to check earlier samples, taken between January 2018 and December 2019, and all proved negative “except for the one from March 12, 2019, in which the SARS-CoV-2 levels were very low but were clearly positive,” the team said in a statement, referring to the virus by its official name.
...
The group assumed that some early cases of Covid-19 might have been mistaken for a severe flu. While the study, published in the medRxiv repository, has not been peer-reviewed so far, the revelation was extensively covered by the Spanish media, such as the El Mundo daily.

Interesting

I had to go and do a urine test at the Lancet Labs this morning (Kidney stones and stent).

I noticed that all the labs in Alberton (Lancet, Ampath and Vermaak Partners) all had lines of 100 or more people queuing up outside to get their COVID testing done.
The doctor told me later that he has seen at least one COVID patient every day now for the last two weeks.
The doc said we were just at the beginning of the upward cusp.

While those beachgoers and protesters probably had a slightly lower chance of catching it while outdoors, than compared to being indoors with similar numbers of people, consider for a minute how a large majority of them got to and from their destinations? If being crammed into a metal tube with hundreds of other people doesn't do it...

Stupid comment. He is most definitely NOT a moron. Why don't you go and look at the source document before making silly comments like these?

Yeah he actually is a moron. He said the virus would die out in 70 days no matter what we do. That is one of the most moronic things ever said. But he even managed to top himself at the end of May when he came out saying "See, told you so! I was right!" in stark contrast with reality.

Making one moronic mistake doesn't make you a moron, but denying that you made a mistake against all evidence (some as basic as counting to 70) and pretending that you were right surely does. Or maybe it just makes you insane...

Open the gyms Cyril...

Gotta read the small print, unlikely to work in SA:
The experiment shows that gyms may be able to reopen safely — if infection rates in the area are low and people adhere to guidelines.
