That is very true. According to US CDC data the chance of contracting Flu is about 10% per year which means the average person only gets Flu on average once in 10 years.
I had the flu in 2009, I was off work for two weeks proper and I was in bed the whole time, it was h1n1 didn't know at the time it was supposedly the worst one in 98 years.
It was horrible, tick bite fever was just as bad but it only was really bad for a maybe 4 days. The flu I was still coughing a month later. That's why even with the sniffles I'll stay home as I don't want to infect others just in case.
