Preliminary was the operable word there.
Didn't age well.
Hysterical - affected by or deriving from wildly uncontrolled emotion.
I wash my hands often, practice social distancing, would like to work from home to avoid the coronavirus - nothing "wildly uncontrolled emotion" about that. All very calculated to avoid the coronavirus. I can't see the hysteria there.
If anything the uncontrolled emotion i.e. hysteria seems to be from those who do not believe we should be worried about corona. If you are not worried move along, leave me in my worry. Your screaming and basic mortality rate calculations will not convince me that the medical experts are all wrong, to say we can not let this disease run it's natural course, unchecked.
If we come out of this unscathed I will breathe a sigh of relief that all those measures worked. Not that the anti-coronas (I don't know what to call your lot - anti-vaxxers?) were right.
You know me ?
If Obama said it I would call him out on it.
It's unnecessary in a time of global pandemic when everyone should be focused on a global solution, not taking cheap shots.
Ridiculous.

I guess having your own opinion is a crime these days.

Remember, Boris Johnson. How well did his science age?
Racists will racist. Those posts are despicable.
I have seen loads of actual racism from white people directed against Asian people since this began, even the pictures of the Asian kid that was beaten up and so on. All pathetic and ridiculous.
People can be so fragile.
What it shows though, about racism, is that it is largely driven by fear. A mix of irrational fear, based on existential threats, driven by all sorts of things from cultural perceptions, propaganda, misunderstanding and misinformation.
The acceleationists are just driven by fear of some existential threat. Same as those idiots posting that detritus.
Or the less charitable interpretation was that they were supressing it. Boris' science didn't change. If you actually listened carefully to the pressers he gave, he did warn of more serious measures if necessary. Yes the media made it as if the government was back peddling but that's because they weren't listening.
80 people where I work are sick.So you scared you're going to die? That's the jest of it I guess.
Sorry to inform you, you won't die. Not for Corona anyway![]()
Well inventing a new phobia certainly won't help.
It's xenophobia, not racism.
We are not all xenophobic.
The CMO said it changed.Or the less charitable interpretation was that they were supressing it. Boris' science didn't change. Yes the media made it as if the government was back peddling but that's because they weren't listening.
The government has always said it is following the science and the science has changed profoundly.
Since it is a phobia (an irrational fear) they can't really help it.so it is fear/hatred of people based on nationality? seems like cheap racism
Since it is a phobia (an irrational fear) they can't really help it.
Like Morgan Freeman once said, if you want to get rid of racism, just stop talking about it all the time. The world has become obsessed with it, and people are now finding racism where it doesn't even exist. It's the ultimate conversation killer, along with "bigot", and anything ending in "phobe".Racism is alive and well in every sphere of society, and identity politics are making it worse.
I agree that I don't like it when Trump calls it the Chinese virus. But when the usual Anti-Trumpets come in here and cry massive tears about Trump's racism, it just rings supremely hollow. There are VERY few people on these forums that actually condemn racism across all spheres of our society. You being one of the few that will actually call it out when it's not super correct politically.
The media has even less credibility now than ever before.
