Nope, nothing like that. I went to see a doc when I first got here as I had a horrid chest infection (2019), then I went for a diabetes and blood pressure because over 40 and that's the extent of it, lol. The only thing on file that could explain it is that I had T2 diabetes a few years ago but surely their more recent test should be on record as showing clear of that. I dunno, just glad to be getting it over with because lots of friends and family are already done with.

Doesn't matter what the reason is i suppose. We should be grateful we are getting jabs and hopefully some normalcy back in a few months time.

All of the vaccines are effective at preventing severe disease and death, including all of the new variants. Efficacy refers to a different standard, of infection and minor illness.

Edit: Once everyone is vaccinated, Covid will stop killing people in large numbers, but it won't disappear as a disease.
Yes I agree with what you are saying, but when referring to the new variants, do we actually have any studies completed yet that show this is the case?

I wouldn't be surprised if it is the case, but I haven't seen any studies yet - unless i've missed them.

Merkel drops Easter shutdown plan for Germany, apologizes

BERLIN (AP) — German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday dropped plans for a five-day shutdown over Easter, which had prompted confusion and criticism. She called the idea a mistake and apologized to Germans.
Merkel announced the decision after a hastily arranged videoconference with Germany’s 16 state governors, who are responsible for imposing and lifting restrictions. The same group, faced with rising coronavirus infections, had come up early Tuesday with the unexpected plan for tighter restrictions over Easter.
The plan was to make Thursday next week — the day before Good Friday — a “rest day,” with all shops closed, and allow only supermarkets to open on Easter Saturday. Since the Friday and Monday are already national holidays, that would have created a five-day shutdown of public life — on top of existing lockdown restrictions, which were extended through April 18.
The plan raised many logistical and legal questions, and also was criticized because there was no public discussion of it before it emerged Tuesday.

Remember governments are "following the science".... ;)

Most of the variant antibody tests have been done in the laboratory on cell cultures. Population level studies of the vaccines have only incidentally picked up small numbers of variant cases. The data are suggestive, but not yet conclusive.

A central feature underlying many psychosomatic-symptom disorders is a fixed belief that one is ill and unlikely to recover. By drawing attention to and legitimizing the ever-present threat of long Covid, medical authorities will lead a large group of impressionable patients to believe that their Covid-19 symptoms have not resolved and that they are helpless victims of an unrelenting sickness. In the past century, the media has played a critical role in perpetuating psychogenic illnesses—chronic brucellosis in the 1940s, chronic Epstein Barr virus in the 1980s, and today (although scientifically debunked) chronic Lyme disease. It is therefore alarming to witness the recent proliferation of uncritical and sensational media stories about long Covid.

The vaccines are not on trial here. It is the actions of the UK government INSPITE of the vaccines.

Which specific actions? The UK gov have been pretty commendable with the rollout of those spiteful vaccines that are ruining their lockdown plans.

Nope. You're both wrong.

There will be a "3rd wave" and a 4IRth wave" and so on and so forth.

Because mutations.

The vaccines prevent hospitalizations, the waves should be of little consequence to the functioning of society with the current info.

It's only been a year of what historically has taken a few years to play out. You can thank modern medicine for that.
