Just remember that some people here would happily have these scenes in their own country if it meant they could do whatever they wanted with no restrictions.
Similar scenes took place in the UK, US, Spain, Italy etc etc. Restrictions or not, vaccinations or not etc etc.

Yoir generalization is great but does not change the fact that similar scenes happen every day through earthquakes, disease, TB, Aids, heart attacks, diabetes and simple human conduct.

The simple fact is that human tragedy sells, and human tragedy well documented sells even better.

The more people you have on the planet and living together, the more disaster, disease, hunger and tragedy you will see.

Is it a good enough reason to stop existing?? The answer should be a resounding NO!! L

And lastly, I do not know where you live but assume somewhere civilized, where the government has plenty ofoney to support all (eg UK). It is very easy to be a bleeding heart, when you are not faced with another side of lockdowns and restrictions, the ones which you so defend, not seeing another tragedy happening every day where people starve, because there are no jobs available

Brazilian health regulators have issued a scathing rebuke of Russia’s Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine, rejecting the shot’s approval in a decision late Monday that could impact its use elsewhere in the world.

The ruling from Brazil’s Health Regulatory Agency, or Anvisa, cited a range of concerns with the vaccine’s development and production, including what it said was a lack of quality control and efficacy data, as well as little if any information on the shot’s adverse effects.

The full publication of the European Union's contract with AstraZeneca reveals that the Commission and EU countries waived the right to sue the drugmaker over any delays in coronavirus vaccine deliveries — a provision that takes any bite out of threats to file a lawsuit against the company over its failure to deliver to the Continent.

Do you think the EU forgot to read all the small print?
Anybody's guess really. Earlier in year they seemed not to realise the contract was "best effort" either. Seems something has gone very wrong with this contract the EU signed, possibly a rush job, or maybe too focused on Brexit.

Allegedly Belgium knew about the contract and lack of consequences for late delivery, but they didn't say anything.

I wouldn’t place any credence on a Brexit angle, but I would think they panicked and jumped without looking after leaving the ordering until the last minute.

Surely they cannot be that dumb. I simply think they were forced to sign those terms (take it or leave it), just like the no-liability clause, and their current threats to file a lawsuit is nothing but an attempt at political saving face.

I think AZ was EUs back up plan considering they pumped so much money into Pfizer but the logistics of large scale administration of the Pfizer vaccine is not realistic. So instead of admitting they made a mistake, they're pointing fingers at everyone else.

At this rate the Rona is not going anywhere any time soon :(
The virus is never going to "go anywhere". It is here to stay. The best we can hope for as a species is that we learn to live with it and stop fiddling around and find suitable treatments for those that get sick.

Should have been doing that from the get go.

Yeah, it is almost acting like seasonal flu, with new strains every year.

We've always known it would be around.
And what do you think the world has been doing for the last year? We now have many viable treatments as well as multiple vaccines, only now can we learn to live with it.

Stop pretending you were right all along.

IMHO that is an astoundingly toxic oversimplification that excuses unscientific measures imposed with zero ongoing evidence they've been of any benefit, and which also seeks to place blame and shame on ordinary people for trying to live their normal lives.

I have from the outset held these views. I have consistently rejected LDs as a solution from day one. I have defended and supported those that put effort into finding suitable treatments.
And have consistently tried to show the futility of all the silly statistical analyses going on and predictions of when it will end.
And I have always said this virus will become a seasonal thing.
So not pretence from me. How about you?
