People DO live there. Granted, a fraction of those living along the coastal areas, obviously. I just think people sometimes forget just how insanely big Australia actually is (only 1.3 times smaller than the US). So not really accurate to dismiss it as an "island".
Based on the number of people living on this continent, it is really just a big village.

Easy to close off village.

India vaccinated 7.5 million in a day. Need about 9 million every day to finish vaccination by 2021.

Politics, manipulation, misinformation:
Health Minister, Dr Harsh Vardhan, tweeted that the eight million jabs was the highest number of doses administered in a single day globally.

But that's not correct as China holds the record for administering the highest number of doses in a single day, going by figures compiled by Our World in Data.

It gave out 20.8 million doses on 21 June, and has also been ramping up its vaccination programme.
But it is worth noting that vaccine doses administered in some states had dropped noticeably in the days leading up to 21 June.

In Madhya Pradesh, the numbers dropped significantly by 82% from 13-16 June and 17-20 June.

In Haryana, vaccine administration dropped by 22% between 15-17 June and 18-20 June before it achieved the highest single-day record.

Where does the Indian Health Minister's tweet say globally? Seems to me it's nothing more than a record for India?

I didn't say that, but India and China have roughly the same population, so that puts their relative efforts into perspective.
What you said was Politics, manipulation, misinformation - who was that directed towards?

As far as I'm concerned 8 million doses in a single day is still quite an achievement.

BBC article got it wrong though. I didn't see 'globally' reference yet. Claim is made in context of India afaik.

Read an eyewitness report from a person I know very well who reckons to the group that it's chaos up in Windhoek, people dying in hospital carparks whilst others run around the city looking oxygen.,....

Namibia has seen a massive spike and the idiot president was quoted yesterday as saying "We did'nt expect this!"

Same guy that has yet to be vaccinated whilst telling the rest of the nation to get vaccinated ,

Small country, Small pop, we all know each other and everyone knows someone who has died.

It's only gonna get worse for a few weeks...

You quoted a tweet from the prime minister.

This is what the health minister said:
Gladdening (is that a word?) or appalling if the link below is to be taken seriously. Dr. Peter McCullough is to my mind a respected source and he apparently claims (I have not yet had time to watch the whole embedded clip) that CDC and CMS whistle-blowers have told him that some 50,000 deaths have already occurred as a result of the vaccination program in the US. I am astonished if this is true. I will give it my full attention this evening.

Says more about the state of your mind than much else.

Half of the doses being given to Indians were previously sold and paid for by other countries. The Indian PM unilaterally blocked exports of vaccines, so those other countries (including SA) have been left in the lurch. A few weeks earlier the health minister had announced that India had 'conquered' the virus. This revocation was probably justified given their 2nd wave, but undermines this so-called achievement.
