Except as we have recently found out, one called Remdevisir, now available in SA, but expensive and MAs wont pay, so only the filthy rich, lucky enough to be treated by a handful of doctors will be offered it provided they agree to pay for it.
One poster claims its use is widespread in SA.
Sounds like the situation with cancer treatments.

Frightening stories from Namibia:
During a sombre address to the nation at the end of June, President Hage Geingob told Namibians that the worst was yet to come.

"Expert projections and simulation tools indicate that the rising incidence curve, during this third wave, is expected to peak around mid-August and may continue well until mid-September 2021," he grimly stated while announcing a raft of lockdown measures.

"Only you and I can stop the further spread of this virus from ravaging our homes and communities," he concluded.

Despite this appeal, many Namibians continue to disregard the rules.

Masks hang off one ear and rarely cover peoples' mouths and noses.

If only this could have been predicted...;)

It is feared the nation will suffer one of the worst influenza outbreaks in decades due to Covid lockdowns causing a huge drop in immunity against other viruses.

Health Minister, double vaccinated, gets infected. The story of our times:
Mr Javid previously tweeted that he had received the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine.

A Public Health England study found two doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine was 60% effective at stopping symptomatic disease from the Delta variant, which is now dominant across the UK. Two jabs of the Pfizer vaccine was 88% effective.

Health Minister, double vaccinated, gets infected. The story of our times:
The vaccines don't prevent infection in most cases or more like don't stop symptoms. But must say looking at the UK graph, almost no deaths compared with their previous wave despite pushing 50k+ a day.

The real interesting article is not this one but one of the links in that article:

It covers the other huge debate that so many tried to declare as fake news last year.

All related to the WHO and its claim that the virus is spread in droplets and not airborne, which in turn is related to them clinging to a fallacy that was proved wrong in the 1950's that any pathogen larger than 5 microns cannot be considered to be airborne.

1: If it's stuffy, walk away - stale vrot air full of other people's bugs
2: Look up at the air conditioning- split air conditioning is the worst kind ever because it never draws in any fresh air!
3: Ask about the 'fresh air ratio' - most AC systems work on a 40 or less/ 60 ratio!
4: Get the office management to check if there's virus in the filters -- most systems don't have decent filters in them and they are "never" checked.
5: Watch out for draughts -- never sit in a draught

How many times has the point been made that vaccination doesn’t prevent infection?
I don't think Gordon_R is saying anything about it really. But I am also not sure what he meant by 'Story of our times'. IMO, the fact that Sajid is suffering 'very mild' symptoms is probably 'story of our times because of vax' :)

He needs to rephrase what he said then, what he said would seem to mean exactly how it reads. It does sound like our Gordon isn’t a fan of the vaccine.

Maybe there's still some uncertainty about how the vaccines work?

For the record it: won't stop you from catching COVID, won't stop you from transmitting it, it will most likely reduce the severity of the infection if you do happen to catch it.

What I meant was two-fold:
1. A year ago many of us thought the vaccine would bring an end to the pandemic. Now it's clear that seems never likely to happen.
2. The UK is trying to lift social restrictions, right in the middle of the 3rd wave a pandemic.
The fact that the Health Minister became infected symbolises these two points.

Only that group who don’t understand how vaccines like this work and dont pay attention after many many people tell them this for over a year after seeing the trite line trotted out again and again and again and again and again and again…

Just to add, you’re again making a mountain out of a molehill due to not wanting to understand what the vaccine does.

Becuase he has had the vaccine his covid infection is a bit like a cold, an annoyance but not a life threatening infection.

In a video posted on his Twitter feed, Mr Javid said: "I was feeling a bit groggy last night, so I took a lateral flow test this morning and it's come out positive, so I'm now self-isolating at home with my family until I get the results of a PCR test.
"I'm grateful that I've had two jabs of the vaccine and so far my symptoms are very mild."

A year ago nobody knew how these vaccines would work, or whether it was possible to get reinfected. Six months ago there was only the Alpha variant in circulation. Politicians have painted themselves into a corner, with tradeoffs between lockdowns, vaccines, and opening up the economy. That is the reality of our times.

P.S. You are missing the point entirely, and making a dick of yourself (again).

Edit: Maybe read some of the threads I have started, and multiple links I have posted, before disparaging my understanding of the virus and vaccines:
