UK no longer requires pre-departure PCR tests for people flying in as of Friday morning- just a lateral flow test within 2 days of arriving

Good news for my brother coming to visit SA in Feb. PCR tests seem to be a rip-off in the UK - at least £80 I've read. Imagine a family of four going on holiday - adds a not insubstantial £320 to the holiday bill. Lateral flow tests are much cheaper!

Err - Unless the ZA government adopt the same he's still gonna need a PCR test done in the UK.

Yes, but with the rule changes, he won't need one on day 2 when he goes back to the UK.

I have actually repeatedly emailed the DA on this issue (so they can bring it up during meetings with the ANC) but have not received an emailed response. SA really needs to allow vaccinated travellers to come in without a PCR test IMO.

My username has always been Dave, it just used to have 123 at the end and I got rewarded with the slightly shorter version for services to the forum pointing out the idiots and morons, comrade NarrowBrainFtw.
Was there a Dave122?

Well there's your problem. You'd probably be better off finding members of the National Coronavirus Command Council (NCCC) and contacting them directly since they tend to have sway in terms of recommendations.

You should try reading a bit more accurately and not relying just on the tabloids.

didn't you know?

a headline from Reuters without any evidence whatsoever disproves any source!

Anything with some vague, obscure Russia connection and these ladies get their panties in a twist. Nevermind that it's actually a Canadian study. Reds under the bed! From Canada!

Yeah I mentioned that. See my post. Are you also illiterate like that fool Mephisto?

The illiterate would be you if anyone actually was, you said you didn't do a deep dive, I said maybe you should be doing that dive (probably before posting what could be Russian Sputnik agitprop) and posted a tweet as to why you should.

Getting a little aggressive because your scoop was a bit of a dud?

Australia cancels Novak Djokovic visa to enter country

Tennis star Novak Djokovic has had his visa to enter Australia dramatically revoked on his arrival in Melbourne.
The world number one was held in the city's airport for several hours before border forces announced he had not met entry rules and would be deported.

It came a day after he was granted an exemption from vaccination rules to play in the Australian Open.
Australian PM Scott Morrison said no one was above the rules, and Djokovic is reportedly challenging the decision.

Shortly after his arrival in Melbourne, authorities noticed that his team had not requested a visa that permits medical exemptions for being unvaccinated. Djokovic has not spoken about his vaccination status, but last year he said he was "opposed to vaccination".
