International Down?

i got this from out networks guy

Please note that there is a failure on the Telkom international network and as a result we will have very slow responses to International web sites only, this includes ***removed*** Intranet sites.
The description is intermittent cable problems.

Telkom Reference.
Reference ID : STT000000004061

Anyone else experiencing problems?

Now, I have got no connectivity whatsoever, local or international. I have had to dial up !!!

Is anyone else experiencing this?

My connection is useless. International is dead, and has been for quite some time now, and the only local site I seem to be able to access is MyADSL.

*Sigh* same here. Cant even access my mailbox. Lets hope its fixed soon.

simple, dns servers went down. try pinging ips, works fine. Temporary solution, changing secondary dns server in your adsl connection settings might solve it for now.

Should I swap my primary and secondary DNS servers in the my connection settings?

same here. What happened to telkoms adsl 'always available' slogan?

Seems to be Telkom's DNS server that is down (and is still down, they really are useless) -- funny, I hadnt noticed it until I tried to ftp, because all my HTTP traffic goes through my Linux squid proxy which was still set up to use a previous ISP's DNS server (196.38.110.2 .. can't even remember who that is) - I'd forgotten to change it, and never noticed because it just worked. If you hardcode your DNS server you may be able to work around it.

Yes, I am, and constantly everyday my connection seems to be slow, I've got the 192k package, but sometimes only get the avg. of 19k/s :( This is quite pissing me off!!!!!! And this is local and/or international...

Hmm, could someone mention which DNS servers should we change to? This could help alot of ppl here posting "No Connectivity..."
Thx
