International travel to be opened “very soon” – Minister

Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula said opening international travel is top of their agenda, but it will be done following global benchmarks.

Mbalula made these comments during an inspection of the O.R Tambo International Airport to assess adherence to COVID-19 regulations and directions.
 
Finally.

Keeping borders closed at this stage (or any stage after the Covid spread in SA topped other countries) is just dumb.
Who are we protecting? The other countries? They can ban us if they want, it's up to them.

Covid has already intruded into every community in SA, why are we still worried about it entering through our borders? That's like trying to patch up holes in a sunken ship.
 
Would be nice to see Home Affairs opening in parallel too - need to get some passports renewed
 
SAA made a ton from repatriation flights, party almost over
