We need to get an internet connection to a game lodge that is about 20km out of Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape. As expected Telkom can't help us, neither Vodacom/MTN.

What other options would you guys recomend?

You could manage 20kms on Wireless... provided you have LOS (Line of sight)... But only worthwhile if you are able to get internet connectivity installed somewhere in Grahamstown that has LOS to the Game Lodge...

Just an idea...

We are currently looking at setting up our own wireless connection from our offices a 100km away. Will see what becomes of that, otherwise I am lost for ideas :(

Satelite? Telkom does have something they use for rural and farm areas if they cant get lines out there, its called SR60 i think, its a type of radio signal... not sure if they still use that infrastructure tho...

Grahamstown is in a hole, err valley, line of site not likely :) If you r one of the game farms on the PE road, i bet LOS is bum in any direction

I saw an ad of Sintech, offering some or other sat. package for the farmers, go check them out

Depends how much you willing to pay? Dialup should be available, maybe ISDN 128k, Vsat will definitely work, and with near line of sight we can assist with Radio link up to 40 km. PM me for further details
