Internet connection sharing

Hi Guys

Please help me out here..

I have 2 xp machines SP2 installed.I have ADSL and I connect making a
PPOE connection.

My main PC have onboard Lan and that is connected to router.I have another network card and that is used to connect to the other pc.

Now for some reason my slave pc cannot access the net..please tell me how
I should have my ip's and gateways setup

Do you connect the second pc to the router? If there arent any available ports you could get a network switch.

How many concurrent sessions does your ISP allow? If you dont know then perhaps we might - who is your ISP?

open network connections of pc with internet, click properties, Advanced tab, check Internet Connection Sharing, click ok.


I also use a static ip for each pc eg. 192.168.1.100 for the pc with internet then the other pc is 192.168.1.101 and then in that pc's properties the gateway is the other pc - 192.168.1.100

If you are using a 2nd network card in the "main" pc to connect to the second pc, are you using a crossover network cable? If it is a straight or normal lan cable, it will not work - PC to PC requires a crossover ethernet cable.

i say go buy a 400 rand mecer router and connect both of them

easiest way

All you do is connect the second pc to the router aswell :) Problem solved :D
