Hmmmm

I have received very few CVs and I can't help wondering why?

Any thoughts?

Its simple. The job post is not attracting candidates. :p

I think a lot of recruiters don't "get" the development and IT market and so they're struggling to find people.
I'll try to help.

The problem in essence is you think your offering is great , but its actually average. We need to align your expectations with what you're capable of getting with the benefits offered , because currently there is a gap between the two.

This position will probably require a lot of technical quoting. And probably a lot of soft skills. Pre sales will involve things like analyzing needs , doing due diligence and selling financial benefits through tech. A candidate will thus probably need a deep understanding of technology , but also business and domain knowledge.

Not many people have this skillset and they're probably already employed. It takes years to acquire , intelligence , hard work and some situational luck. You're gonna have treat the candidate like a rockstar and pay them well. Remember - guys like this aren't lucky to have a job. You are lucky to employ them.

You've thrown out an ad which says :

"Hey minions , apply for this job. I'm going to make you find out all the benefits and other information about this job after you've done the tedious work of applying. After all , you should be grateful for the opportunity"

Lets try and write you an ad which appeals to potential candidates. I'll write it specifically for this position. Recruiters - take this as a lesson and note the differences :

Work in the New World of the Internet of Things R38k-R60k | Centurion

Are you under-appreciated in your current technical sales role? Are you a developer or analyst who's looking for a change?

Come and work for us! We expect you to be brilliant and work hard , but we'll treat you like gold and make sure your boring work days are behind you.

We have a fun working environment :

1. Above average pay - our salaries beat everyone else for similar positions. We actually know what it takes to retain our employees and keep them happy.
2. Great perks - we have a concierge service , lunch , laundry , a gym and a games room , paid medical aid etc
3. Great Equipment - latest and greatest because we know productivity matters
4. A lack of tolerance for pettyness and politics
5. Work with the best and the brightest - we employ winners who you can learn from.

You'll love working here. Trust me. If you're unsure - PM and we can arrange a visit to the offices where you can meet the people behind the company - no obligations.

Our requirements are :

1. A degree/diploma. If you can answer some tough questions about why you should be hired without these , we'll listen.
2. Some Sales experience 2-3 years
3. Strong technical background
4. Worked in a business role for some period of time.

Send me a PM and I will phone you and then meet with you personally to see if you're a good fit - on your schedule and at your convenience.

I totally agree!

Something else that might be added is, if the candidates who applied for the previous job post if they need re-apply or not.

Any thoughts?

a) Salary is a bit low
b) Its sales...
c) The job posting is a lot of jargon and babble...

And also reply saying that you didn't get the post. You can use a copy-pasted answer, just don't leave them hanging. It will make them look more favorably at your company if you have a future position for them.

Very well communicated, which I must admit applies to all the responses you have posted on the vacancy threads lately.
