That article is a bit on the light side, I don't think it contains anything that most of us don't already know.

agreed, short and lacking content

I would be very interested in a detailed article outlining the specifics of IPTV and any information about Telkom Media which has been made public.

That means the IPTV service never actually makes contact with the Internet.

Well, this article answered my question:

"How will telscum justify letting their little sub company telscum media use the ADSL network for free or damn near free while any ISP (other than telscum internet) must be a$$ raped on cost per gig? Even when that ISP wants to offer local only content?"

Oh no sir, telscum media does not offer "internet" it only uses gigabytes / terabytes of bandwidth on our little old ASDL network. But no, you cannot use our ADSL network in local only mode. That is a right we reserve for our dear little telscum media company.

I really hope the Competition Commission jumps on them for this

This should at least help determine what kind of set-top box they will be using.

Xbox 360 will support Media Room from October , so if you have a Xbox 360 you have a set-top box :) . Not sure if telkom will allow it tho (or can prevent it) , would prolly want to milk us for profits on set -top box sales as well the bastids

Didn't telkom use the Xbox as a test or something like that? Probably to reverse engineer it and re-sell the technology to us. (hope I didn't give em any ideas).

Isn't it great when the bad guys stick together? It makes it a lot easier to identify the good guys ;)

How does Telscum justify differential pricing for their 384k, 512k and 4mbit services then? Such a load of bull$%#...

That too.

Having a minute cap kinda makes different line speeds kinda redundant. Just how fast do you really want to use up your 1gig?
