When all the operators were talking up FTTH futures they kept saying it'd be comparable with ADSL prices, and that Telkom's such a ripoff... that was all BS. R8799 for 100mbit... uncapped 40mbit ADSL is R1400. That's R3500 for the bandwidth portion if you multiply out to 100mbit. And note that ADSL and FTTH use the exact same bandwidth on the backbone side of things. Sorry, man - if Telkom can maintain a piece of copper to your house for R700 a month, how do you justify R5300/month for a piece of fiber along the same path, even if you do have to dig a trench for it.

Suddenly Telkom's looking like the good guy.

I dont think they are offering FTTH (IS), I think this is more an FTTB offering, with SLA's and dedicated QOS.
FTTH is point to multipoint, FTTB is point to point.
