Listen to the guys advocating to shoot someone with anything when your life is not in imminent danger and let us know how prison was when you get out, if you get out alive.

In your case lock the doors and call the estate's security guard while you hide under the bed?

Yep. That is actually the best approach
Not everyone have security protecting then. Then if u live in any suburb in South Africa u would know that from time to time u get someone messing around in your yard. This isn't enough to execute that person right on the spot, but a paintball gun sends a nice strong message that they should leave your stuff alone.

Ag nee v 0 k...! A paintball marker is NOT even remotely adequate self defense. This has been discussed ad nauseam. If the aim is to irritate the intruder - rather play an Adele CD.

Not pleasant having a coffee atomized through you sinus cavities ... you owe me a another coffee and a new keyboard sir!

If my life or the life of a loved one or a third party I have an interest in is in immanent danger I will draw my legally licensed firearm and defend them/myself until the threat is not a threat anymore.

If a guy is in my yard trying to steal my **** I will open the gate for the dogs to kill him or I will shout at him from inside my house which most of the time will cause him to leave.

You are giving "advice" here to people that WILL **** up their lives for good so I suggest, respectfully, to go and study the FCA and then decide what the best course of action is.

Yes it sucks that they steal your **** and you have to replace it and you have to live in a prison, nobody likes it but you have to think of your and your family's future.

Imagine a guy is walking up to his door and he pulls out a toy gun or paintball toy or whatever and this person lays a charge against him and he needs to go to prison, was it worth it?

If they are such a problem think of a different solution but the only time you draw a weapon is to neutralize a threat, not to point, not to show off at a braai, not to scare someone in traffic that cut you off. When that firearm is out it is out to shoot, ****all else.

No, thats send a nice message that the cops and court will interpret as you wanting to go to jail.
If you don't live in a security estate (And I don't. Can't stand the things), you call your security company to come and deal with the situation.

He was saying to call security and let them deal with the problem. That is the correct approach as it doesn't result in you going to jail or getting killed

Before that he said shoot with a toy

And he was being sarcastic implying that I live in a security estate and that I hide under my bed and letting the security company sort my **** out.

Injust came back from the DRC, I know how to handle ****.

All good. The risks has been stated multiple times. I am not pretending otherwise. And if it's proven that u set your dogs on someone u will join me in jail.

My point is, don't think a 9mm with 12 rounds in a panic situation is any better than a marker loaded with a mix of 200 non-lethal pepper and nylon rounds able to fire at ~10 a second. Especially if you have a gas mask and adequate cover.

Get a 9mm Glock and you can get the nice 34 round mags from the full auto. That'll get you out of trouble; at least if you can shoot a little. :)
And if you want to be fancy you can fit one of these surefire torch lights directly on the gun, so you see where you're shooting.

Firstly, get a tap cover and pad lock like this at your local hardware shop.

1418047_140215110556_photo0091.jpg

They cost about R100 and will cut these okes off at the source.
When the tap is no longer available, they won't return.

If you harm the trespassers, even if with a Co2 gun or painball gun, they may lay a charge against you and the police will arrest and charge you. Shooting someone with a paint ball gun, Co2 gun, or even pointing a toy gun will land you with a criminal sentence.

If they choose not to report you to the cops, you also run the risk of them coming back with friends and assaulting you or your family members, or throwing bricks or petrol bombs through your windows. This happened to my neighbour.

Adopt a bull-terrier (varkhond) or install an electric fence.

1. Put up a wall
2. Get 2 purebred German Shepherds
3. Train them never to eat unless commanded to
4. Leave your new braai stand in the yard
5. Put up a sign saying "TRESPASSERS WELCOME"
6. Leave the dogs open
7. Have more fun watching this than a rugby game lol

Works for me

I don't know how people with open yards, without at least a palisade fence, can sleep at night. It won't keep serious criminals out, but at least the bums on the street won't come walking in and helping themselves.
