What did they think would happen when the merger with Kalahari.net was approved? Also, where are the investigations into SAA's/Eskom's dominance and blatantly unfair advantage with unlimited financial support from Government?

bribe paid to them to "investigate" Takealot was too tempting.

Investigation into Takealot's dominance

The Competition Commission will proactively investigate the dominance of Takealot and other major players in South Africa's digital market.
I recently had to make a choice between buying my fridge from Makro, Game or Takealot. Makro and Game were about R100 cheaper. I decided to go with Takealot because of the other hassles I had with the two priors before this.

Takealot delivers (literally when the others lags and sometimes don't)

The only issue I have with them is their sketchy advertising and that they are not part of the ASA

Who owns Takealot?

I know some of our bigger sites (I think bidorbuy) are owned by a rich Texan, so wondering who is behind Takealot.

Nvm, seems same people own bidorbuy & takealot

Takealot.com was officially launched in June 2011, following the successful acquisition of an existing ecommerce business called Take2 by the US-based investment firm, Tiger Global Management and Kim Reid in October 2010.

Through his Tiger Global Management fund, Coleman owns shares in South Africa's largest online auction website, BidorBuy, which in-turn owns 100% of Ubuntu Deal and has a minority stake in PayFast

Yeah, not sure how good this is for South Africa.

Lmao......because they have a good business model, run efficiently have good turnaround times and are successful, they get investigated.
Maybe government can learn from this... But I highly doubt it.

Ja and Naspers is pushing big money into Takealot. So they can afford to operate on a loss, for now. Any shortfalls is covered by Naspers money.
More accurately, by shareholders' money ...

If you can't beat them, join them?
Takealot is HUGE, so why the investigation? For what? Unfair competition? Or do they want some stake in the company?
You know you can sell your stuffs on Takealot?
Much like the sellers on BidOrBuy or EBay?

NASPERS - a registered south African Company listed on the JSE - go and buy some shares, comrade!

PS Put your anti American green eyed monster away!
