The Gauteng Department of Education has launched an investigation into a verbal altercation between a teacher and parent at Fred Norman Secondary School in Ennerdale.

The video of the incident, which shows a heated exchange between teacher and parent, emerged on social media on Monday.
The incident took place on Friday.
Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona says the teacher has since been removed from the school.
"Educators must always be exemplary figures at our schools by maintaining a high command of good conduct and teaching our learners with dignity.
“We also implore parents to use appropriate channels to address their grievances rather than resorting to other platforms.
“ Furthermore, schools are institutions of learning and they should be treated as such," says Mabona.

Honest question: Will as big a song-and-dance be made of this incident?
Why should there be a big thing about this ...storm in a teacup? Nothing happened...

PS: I now read the new posts/comments and actually heard the " I don't like coloreds comments".
That is racist and not acceptable. Would love to see the colored community's reaction...and I hope it is epic.

Was this teacher sitting down with her feet up? Nice way to get someone worked up.

SAHRC nowhere to be seen. But had that been a white teacher using such overt racism towards a black family this would be national news and EFF would be storming her office.

Dude, stop making everything about colour.

A Gauteng teacher has been precautionarily removed from Fred Norman Secondary School in Ennerdale after an altercation with a pupil's grandparent.

This follows a video that went viral on social media on Friday, in which a teacher is heard calling the grandmother of the pupil "trash" and stating that she does "not like coloured people".

This is despite being a teacher in a predominantly coloured school.

It's what most people are thinking. And it's true.

I watched that video twice now, can't see a single thing that can be racist. That parent acted like trash, the teacher was surprisingly calm, and the kid, talking to a teacher like that? That's absolutely not acceptable.

If you as a parent has an issue with the teacher you take it up with the school, and then with the department. You don't act like trash in front of kids and then get upset when you're called what you are.
