Check the md5 hash as suggested and find out if the download was corrupted. If it has been then just download it again.

Any file can corrupt during the download procedure.

Least aggravating method to getting this sorted will be to take it to Digicape or iFix - as you found out, the iStore is useless - they only want to sell you stuff.
