Why ipad?

Hey 8ta

I use my iphone on personal hotspot to share data with my ipad. If ure on 8ta prepaid u can use the psb data option which allows u the 2+1gb bundle and that works like a charm. As long as ure reception is good and mine works well everywhere.

Then via personal hotspot share with ipad and off u go. If u bit nuts u can get the 1800 bundle for 60+60 an that works well.

+1 Got the DataMax 15 contract with iPad 4 and can't tether... Had to revert to old HTC Desire in cupboard to act as mobile hotspot in our home. Funny thing is that I get speeds in excess of 7Mbps downlink through the iPad, but only around 1Mbps through the Desire.

I still don't understand why we should hack the tablet in order to get hotspot feature.. .

Are CELL C the only authorized resellers cause this works straight out of the box if you've their sim card or does AKC-snr know a lot of people at Apple..

I have reason to question now why is CELL C the only operator in South Africa that managed to get this working and others are lagging behind..

It's higher grade and 8ta couldn't be bothered. Just like dual sim.

Apple doesn't block anything, carriers just need to ask to get it enabled. SA carriers don't care.

Why carriers should ask Apple to enable things which are covered by device specification?
They buy from authorised resellers, they should receive fully functioning product.

Because it's apple that signs andd distributes the carrier updates

only reason why i bought the iPad was to make use of the hotspot feature and share it with my notebook and smartphone for when i am on the go and cause of how long the device stays connected without charging.

Because the carriers must say whether the hotspot is allowed or not. In countries where you had unlimited data, the unlimited data was fine if you were on a mobile device as those devices didn't allow tether. To tether they normally sold you another SIM or another mifi type device.

So iPad has this feature turned off by default, unless the carrier enables it. And yes, the same carrier enabled it for the phone so there is no reason they didn't do it for the iPad either.

This sound no reason at all. Why unlimited data should affect settings? And why there is no problem with other manufaturers? Only with Apple.

Overseas, particularly in the states, the carriers often decide what features, even software, come installed on the phone.

It's ridiculous and unacceptable! This feature should work out of the box, then don't mention anything on advert promo or anything. Just make it appear if service providers want such function to be enabled.

I am not sure why we should suffer to be honest with you it's not like South African Mobile Providers offer uncapped or anything if you talking about MTN that doesn't count.
