iPhone 16 pre-orders in South Africa — contract and cash price details

South African retailers and mobile network operators have opened pre-orders for the iPhone 16 lineup, with prices starting at R20,599 to buy outright through Computer Mania and R999 per month over 36 months on contract through Vodacom.

Apple unveiled its latest line of iPhones during its "Glowtime" event on Monday, 9 September 2024. The most notable change over the previous generation was a dedicated camera control button and the promise of increased functionality through Apple Intelligence.

Samsung S24 Ultra went for R23K at Game. Here, the iPhone Pro "Max" goes for R31,800. LOL.
I honestly would not swap the S24U for any of those and I use MBPs for 95% of my computing.

The only way to afford this is with the device deal on eBucks level 5...

So the only difference is the memory size

256GBR31,799R31,099
512GBR36,999
1TBR42,499

So storage costs apple about $100 to manufacture between 256gb and 1tb, yet they charge 5x more in profits for it.

36k at Vodacom for a 20k device. These operators are having a laugh...

I wouldn’t use a S24 Ultra even if given to me for free. It’s filled with bloatware and the dual app stores.

You need to see the speed comparisons with it and the iPhone 15 Pro though … I think the S24U was about 10 seconds quicker processing an image and video

You’ve never experienced such speed in your life

The bloatware I can sort of tolerate... well, I don't have a choice but if I did, I would get rid of it without rooting the device.

The Samsung app store, however, I really hate that! It really is a nuisance to me, just can't stand that sh&t.

3x pink 16 pro max's with earpods 2 and chargers was over R120k.

At least these women won't worry me for another year now...

This is pretty cool for the guys with the custom hardware

“Apple has introduced expanded charging limit options for iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 models in iOS 18, offering users more control over their device's battery health. This feature, which previously capped charging at 80%, now includes new 85%, 90%, and 95% options”
