Iphone 3GS and 7.2Mbps

Is anybody aware of any limitation(settings, firmware etc) for the Iphone 3GS which prevent it from reaching 7.2Mbps? When i do a speed test on the phone, I'm only reaching 1Mbps max and it seems as if its limit to it cause it doesn't exceed it at all. My sim is provisioned for 7.2 and my serving site is 7.2 enabled as well(can get 7.2 with my data card connection).

I also have a blackberry 9000 which is 3.6 compatible, however speeds never exceeds 1Mbps

Anybody else experiencing the same?
