iPhone 5 battery replacement in South Africa

Some iPhone 5s have faulty batteries, but, until recently, only those in the US could claim the free repair
Some iPhone 5 devices ;)

Rules for Proper Use of Apple Trademarks

1. Trademarks are adjectives used to modify nouns; the noun is the generic name of a product or service.

2. As adjectives, trademarks may not be used in the plural or possessive form.

Correct: I bought two Macintosh computers.

Not Correct: I bought two Macintoshes.

So mine is eligible to replaced, but Im not with Vodacom. Does that mean I just have to deal with it?

Is that legit English "rules", or something apple enforces?

The bit I quoted was from Apple's guidelines for using trademarks etc but it does help to avoid confusion with the model known as the iPhone 5s.

Your best bet is to contact whoever you bought the device from and see if they're in on the programme.

Did you experience low battery life with it or not really? Just curious. I also had an iPhone 5. I had no battery issues but the WIFI was faulty.

Yip have some issues, especially when not connected to WIFI. Barely lasts a day with minimal usage

Mine dies at less than 20% especially when the camera app is running. Checked on the site & I'm eligible for a replacement battery:)

Well at a quick glance i actually thought the article was talking about the 5s :p

Just got confirmation from Core that they will be participating in the battery replacement programme. Updating the article now:

Yes we will be participating in the iPhone 5 battery replacement programme. This is the replacement process at iStore:

REPLACEMENT PROCESS

  • An iOS Diagnostic Battery Test will be conducted in store.
  • Depending on these results, the iPhone may be sent away to the Service centre for further diagnostics and resolution.
  • NOTE: The repair is subject to an assessment at the Service Centre as physically damaged and third-party repaired devices do not qualify for this program. iPhones repaired under the iPhone 5 Sleep/Wake Button Quality Program automatically had a new battery replacement under this repair program.

It’s important to note the following for customers:

  • Customers need to ensure that they perform their own backup prior to sending their device in for service.
  • Customers need to disable Find My iPhone prior to sending their device in for service.

Yet they reportedly wouldn't deal with phones covered under the button replacement programme not purchased through them?
