If your system is so fancy why are you using the iphone's built-in DAC. If you were using an aftermarket DAC then the lightning to 3.5mm dongle shouldn't be an issue.
I think you're just trying to create problems where there are no problems.
Isn't the DAC in the iPhone 6 considered to actually be rather good?

I think I'm just trying to select a different phone. You seem upset by this, which is weird.

nah, fanboys will always react like this. you drank the coolaid and now you want to leave.
have you ever seen a ex scientologist talk about what goes on inside there?

lucky apple fans are not quite that bad, there are lots of guides on what to pick instead of apple products. and lots of happy people moving to all sorts of other phones.

just ignore the iTrolls and move on.

Why not get or keep the 6S?

The difference between the top end phones are pretty small, and unless there's a feature you want (like being waterproof) I don't see the point in spending that much money for a relatively small upgrade.

Sony doesn't have a "flagship" phone in the traditional sense. The Xperia X is an upper mid range phone. I got a Samsung S7 edge, and it's nice. It's not uglier and doesn't feel cheaper than the iphone 6 I had a while ago. In fact, I would say it's actually a bit nicer.

I honestly think that for the vast majority of people it will be fine. Apple with have done their homework, it wont matter - to most.

I have an expensive system in my car that I use daily and built part of myself which requires an audio jack. I have specialist sound equipment from the 70s and 80s at home that require an audio jack. I'm obviously in the clear minority but to me, these things are very important.

In point of fact: I'd love to get an iPhone 7, it simply will not satisfy my requirements for a phone though. I'd have to have that and a secondary device for audio playback... just like when I had a Razr and an iPod Video. I don't want to carry two devices, the iPhone solved that problem for me years ago.

Would the dongle (lightning to analogue) that is included by Apple in the box not sort out the above for you?

There are lot more people who troll Apple fans than the other way around in my experience.

It's weird, but there it is.

Look at jerryrigeverything. If you want good build quality check before you purchase anything by looking at his videos on YouTube. Samsung phones are actually well built (they might not be as shatter resistant as the iPhone's nowadays) but they're fast and have awesome features. You should also look at the htc 10

Don't buy and Android phone expecting and iPhone like experience. You will be disappointed. The platforms are different.

P9 or LG is you don't like sammy. Personally I'd go HTC but they're not for everyone.

If you must have a high-end phone then I'd recommend the S6 Edge. Solid build quality and the best display in a phone. Samsung have lightened up on the bloatware and skinned the interface near stock. The P9 and P9 Plus are great devices but they are too expensive compared to the S7.

If you want to ditch contracts and still want a premium experience then go with Xiaomi. They dish out updates almost every month and the interface is similar totally customisable.

Just curious, but they are mentioning two alternatives, the bluetooth headphones (which one invariably will not charge and come as a cost), or an adaptor for the Lightning port(excluding the fact that they provide lightning EarPods in the box). So how does this totally drive you away from the phone. Personal preference of course, but I tried Android, TWICE and did not learn my lesson. I have always liked the way Apple just works (I will wait for the Android fanboiz to talk about lack of customisability, or lack of upgradeable storage et al) so I doubt this would make me want to switch

Wait a month to see what the new Nexus phone will look like. It will be by far the closest "Apple" experience on android. Otherwise the Nexus 6P is a great contender now, and can be had for cheap as its a year old.
