Right, I'm tired and irritable because I've been trying to download games for my iPhone that are not in the SA iTunes store for 2 hours now and I canna' do it, cap'n!!

If you recognise this message and you know what to do, please let me know.

"Your account is only valid for purchases in the South African iTunes Store."

Of course, the app I want (GeoDefense) isn't IN the stupid SA store!!

Who the hell decided we can't have the same fricking apps as the US store anyway??? They give us the iPhone but refuse to let us BUY the apps that makes the iPhone worth having?? The SA Store is poor, poor, POOR!!!

Yup, it does suck that there are no games in the SA Store, well ... there are a few but only if the developer has classified them in the Entertainment (or other) category and not the Games one. I did some digging a while back and this is basically why: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1739692&start=28 - not sure if that is the exact link but give the thread a read and it kinda gives a summary of the story.
That being said ... check out this post http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...-Apps-thread&p=1440957&viewfull=1#post1440957 especially the section titled "How to create a US iTunes account" - not an ideal solution but it works.

Just buy a iTunes card online, load it in your US iTunes account, and shop away.

I did it over the weekend for the 1st time. Was awesome, delivery in 2mins, spent in 5mins.

$10 card cost me R99.something.

Right, gotcha. Get a US account, get an iTunes voucher, buy WHATEVER you want - music, apps, TV shows, etc.

Thanks!

ooookay, loophole closed. It looks like you can no longer select the "None" payment option when you log into iTunes...

It looks like you can now put in a voucher code on the payment method screen though. Has anyone done it this way? I'm loathe to go and spend money on a voucher only to have it fail...

Dang. The "None" payment option is gone after all. I don't know if this is going to work anymore...

You need a voucher and a fake US address, if you want I can get you a $20 US voucher for R160 emailed straight from the iTunes store, EFT.

I haven't actually selected any app before trying to create the account. I just followed the instructions on the MediaWOB site... I'll try selecting a free app first and see how it goes...
