I went to an MTN store and enquired about an iPhone 6 only to be told they were only expecting stock at the end of January which would first go to people on a waiting list. I have now been to other Vodacom and MTN stores and told things like, "there's a global shortage", "theres a waiting list as long as my leg", "I can't make any promises". I contacted the I store on Facebook and was told there is a global shortage and was told to register for their waiting list (http://myistore.co.za/iphone-6-waiting-list/), which I've now done. Why is there such a shortage and how long are we going to wait until more stock arrives???

The shortage only exists in South Africa to create the hype demand.

Check the uk/us/Canada etc Apple online stores - all model variants shipping in one business day. Only in SA do we receive 10 phones a month creating this backlog.

Found out something interesting yesterday - Core source their cash sale phones from telkom mobile which is probably a good indication of why I've been waiting 8+ weeks for my phone.
